The city gate called Porta Napoli, the squares of Piazza Duomo and Piazza Sant’Oronzo, the Church of Santa Croce and lots of noble palaces and churches of the historical center, showing wonderful balconies, volutes and grotesque figures carved in the malleable and luminous straw-yellow Lecce stone. There are also important archaeological remains dating back to Roman times, on the central Sant’Oronzo square, in the open air, showing the origins of the city of Lecce, the Amphitheatre. I
